Spring into Action

Spring is upon us. The sun is shining, the days are getting longer and the flowers are beginning to bloom. As we shake off the cobwebs of winter we begin to act. But that is what spring is all about; action. The world is coming alive. Even us humans who do not hibernate, begin our “spring” cleans, put away those winter clothes and look to the year ahead. Spring is the season of growth and renewal.

Spring is the perfect season to also “spring” clean our own lives too. It is probably no coincidence that Lent occurs during the spring months. As the world around us begins its own growth and renewal, so do we have the opportunity to grow and renew our own lives. Is there a unhealthy habit that you have? Is there something that is not serving you well? Are you going to miss out on the opportunity to change?

My husband and I are avid basketball watches and last night got the opportunity to go see the Duke Blue Devils to play. We jumped at the chance and watched the Blue Devils take the win against Florida State University. Each of those players sprung into action at each chance they could. There was no wasted moment. Should we be more like them with our health? Taking every single moment available to change the bad into good.

Today I call us all forth to spring into action this day. To change those areas that we do not love about ourselves; through thought, word or deed. I know this is something that I have talked about a lot but there is no better time than starting today. Here is a simple challenge to maybe help kick start this new chapter in your life. Grab a friend, pick a scripture and walk. The walk could be ten minutes or three hours it is up to you but take this opportunity to make a small change for a big difference.

“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).
